Welcome to my ePortfolio! My name is Maggie Purcell and I am an undergraduate in the school of Liberal Arts at Penn State University. I am pursuing a double major of Criminology and International Politics with a minor in History. I am a member of the Pink Ribbon Club and engage in various intramural sports on campus.
Throughout the year, the themes of rhetoric and civil life have been explored in the course Rhetoric and Civil Life through the department of Communication, Arts, and Science. These themes were expressed through a variety of written pieces, multimedia works and blog posts. These skills have allowed students to be able to identify different rhetorical devices used in other works and apply them to student's own writing.
This class has allowed me to grow over the year in many ways. First, I have a better grasp of rhetoric and how to apply rhetorical strategies in both writing and speaking aspects. It has also allowed me to improve my writing overall, with better organization and control of the topic. I look forward to using these skills gained through this class and its assignments in the rest of my college years and career.
